Yash Raj Film’s ‘Thug’ directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya is all set to go on floors early next year. Though, it has been confirmed that Aamir Khan will be seen playing the male lead in the flick, the female actress is yet to be confirmed.
According to a daily, the filmmakers had earlier approached actress Deepika Padukone but the starlet had rejected the project then. If Deepika gives a nod to the movie, it will be the first time when she and Aamir will be sharing the screen space. In the past, Vijay has collaborated with Aamir for ‘Dhoom 3’. ‘Thug’ is touted to be based on the novel ‘Confession Of A Thug’, written by Phillip Meadows Taylor in 1839. Aamir is currently occupied with Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming biographical sports drama ‘Dangal’.
Last 2 weeks before the firewalking ceremony held in Sri mariamman temple @ South bridge rd, I went to the kumbududantham event. it is an annual prayers session where one has to kneel and walk with vebilai and lemons held in their hands. it is done to worship the goddess. the women do this while the men do angapradasanam. The latter is where the men roll their bodies on the floor of the temple praying to goddess mariamman.
There was a live telecast on Youtube of the firewalking ceremony. Many watched it live. men have to cross the pit of fire with their bare feet. this is an annual event held before the deepavali festival.

I am a big fan of popular Aiswarya Bachchan. She is so lovely and I bet many men wanted to marry her. Her fantastic film “Devdas” which she co-starred with SRK was shown on my local TV channel. She looked dazzling in the colorful costumes. The songs were fun and of course there was also Maduri Dixit who shared her limelight.
Now, I think Ais would be busy with her child. I am eagerly awaiting for her next upcoming projects. When I talk of Aiswarya I got reminded of an ex-school-mate who used to ask me how come asian indians are so fair and gorgeous with colorful eyes. I thought that she was a racist. How could she not believe what she saw in front of her eyes. She though that the indians were caucasians. I told her majority of them were brahmins. Of course, some inter-marry but there is a term called “North Indians”. I have seen a lot of pretty north indian or “bengali” girls who look so good. Some may know more about indians if they visit india.
